1. What is Reborn?
Reborn is one of the few, old, still active guilds on Spinebreaker and as such we are a group of people from diverse European countries who share the same love for World of Warcraft, in all its aspects, both PvP and PvE. As such we have a core who is extremely dedicated to PvE raiding progress, and while we are not exactly hardcore (we don’t raid 6 days a week :P), we do take our raiding seriously.

Our goal, above all else, is to not only enjoy all the content the game has to offer, but to do it with the people we have been playing with over all this time.

2. General Guild Behavior Rules
1. Don’t be a n00b. Mouthing, back talking, bottling-up of feelings and whispering dissent is not encouraged, if you have a problem with any member in the guild, take it directly to an officer or GM and voice your opinion. Bottling up your feelings will only generate problems in the long run, open communication within the guild is encouraged - remember the GMs and Officers cannot help you if they do not know you have a problem.

2. You are responsible for any friends/relatives that use your account, in other words, if your mate from school logs on your account and hassles people/nicks mats from the bank to sell, the responsibility of those actions will always fall on the person owning the account.

3. Use the forums as much as possible, it is our main means of communication within the guild, because it’s the perfect tool for people to sit down and pour their thoughts into paragraphs of text. All the info you will ever need for boss encounters, add-ons needed, DKP and guild rules is found on our forum and website. Use it.

4. No sell/trade in Guild Chat, no begging for gold/loot/mats, no charging your fellow guildies for cutting them a gem, enchanting stuff, making them an item when they bring you mats. General common sense stuff really, we are all here to help each other out.

5. Don’t apply to other guilds while in Reborn. If we find out about it, it breaks our trust in you - if we let you stick around, you are probably just raiding with us to gear up and move on to another guild with better progression, and clearly that’s not the kind of members we want in the guild.

6. We all love drama, but /gquitting when you have an argument with someone, and returning an hour later, is immature and unacceptable, and will be punished with a DKP reduction of 50% of your current total.

3. Reborn Organization and Rank overview

(A) GM
Our Guild is headed by Mattija. The GM is supported in this by the officers. The benefit of having these officers is clear that even in the absence of the GM things can be and are still run smoothly by the officers.

(B) Officers
Officers are the next in line underneath the GM Rank, and providing a clear channel of communication within the guild between those who manage it and those who are members of it. Reborn's officer core is broken down with further roles, Guild Officers and Raid Officers. All of Reborn's officers are are more than likely able to help you with any problems / issues you have however they do have specialisms!

Raid Officers specialise in raid related matters. They help record and update the DKP system on our website using dedicated addons as well as leading and monitoring slack in raids. Due to this you will find that they stay online after a raid to deal with any raiding issues such as enchanting / jewelcrafting mats from the guild bank which they have extra access to.

Guild Officers deal with more day to day running of the guild. Member recruitment, addressing member issues and complaints as well as sorting out the guild website and forum. Although not Raid Officers, they are to be listened to in a raid environment with the same respect shown to your raid leaders as all officers are at the same level in the Reborn management hierarchy.

(C) Raid Members
Raid Members are the next rank in the Reborn Rank structure. Traditionally we will have limited slots for Raid Members who are members with high attendance, skill at playing their class (not only their main spec) and the dedication to improve themselves. Raid Member slots are not for keeps, if someone else in the guild is performing better and more reliably than you a warning will be issued by the officers. If you do not show signs of improvement they may be promoted to Raid Member in your place.

Officers and Raid Members are all subject to the same demotion and promotion system, and while the defined hierarchy is Officer > Raid Member > Guild Member, any demotion made effective for substandard behavior or performance will effect a direct demotion to Guild Member, not to the rank below, leaving an open slot for any member of the rank beneath to be considered for a promotion if appropriate.

(D) Guild Members & Alts
Guild Members are the bread and butter of Reborn, the clowns in Guild Chat screaming all that nonsense we love and hate at the same time. All guild members may bring all their alts to the guild, but are expected to decide among their characters which is the main (Guild Member) and which are their Alts. Guild Members may also raid, but both have lower priority on invites than Raid Members. You are generally supposed to raid on your main charachter, unless differently told by an officer.

(E) Trial Members & Gravy Brain
Trial Members are typically new players to the Guild on a 2-4 week trial for acceptance into the guild as Raid Members. Many things are taken into consideration for a successful Trial period, for more details please read section 5.

Gravy Brains... are the Reborn equivalent of the Village Idiot. =)

4. Raiding rules and requirements

(A) Raiding Rules for all members
1. Above all, remember, raiding is a PRIVILEDGE, not a RIGHT. When the Raid Leader sets up a raid, he or she will always do so considering what people we have available, how these people have performed in the past, and what setup is best needed to progress the guild through the game's content. In essence, Signing up is not a guarantee for an invite, even for Raid Members. Remember, patience is key, if you haven’t been chosen for a particular raid, there are reasons behind it, but you will also certainly have a chance to prove yourself and upgrade your gear.

2. Come prepared. This means you need all the right add-ons for your class, all the right consumables (pots, flasks, elixirs, food, and oils/poisons) to ensure you are working at your maximum efficiency. ALL raid members need to use Omen for threat management and Deadly Boss Mods for boss encounters. Other required add-ons are class and task specific (For example, Decursive for Mages, PallyPower for Paladins, etc), so if in doubt ask an Officer for details on what add-ons you require to raid for your class.

3. A Signup means you are definitely coming. If you can't come for a raid whoever is organising it will appreciate if you decline the invite on the calendar (you can always change it later). If you have any doubt whether you can make it or not, sign up as tentative: your invite will be given low priority but if you do a no-show it will not be unexpected. Let us know if you will be on late. If you don't sign for raids, your invite will come after those who signed and only if there are still avaible spots. Remember that you can always leave a note on the forums shall something unexpected happen. For Raid Members, as a Raid Member you are expected to attend at least 3 out of 4 raids a week, so do not abuse the “tentative” category in raid signups.

Additionally, a Signup means that you intend to stay for the duration of the entire raid, from 8pm till 12:00, Game Time. Exceptions are of course possible, some people can only raid till 11pm, or RL may surprise you and you may need to leave earlier than expected, but in both cases let officers know beforehand or put a note on your signup. Priority for invites will, of course, always be given to people who can stay throughout the entire raid. Leaving withnout proper notice will be penalised both in the DKP earns for that night and with demotion points as fit.

4. Come on time. Raid invites might start as early as 19:30, attendance punctuality will be closely monitored, repeated late arrivals will be noted and action taken – remember if you signed and are late, you are wasting 24 people’s time and hindering the guild’s PvE progress because you couldn’t get there on time.

5. Do not AFK. This means no coffee breaks between pulls/bosses, no unannounced bathroom breaks! Reborn raids only 4 days a week and AFK is a tremendous waste of our limited time AND a disrespect to the other 24 people who are left waiting for you when you head off without a word. Get your coffee/drinks ready before the raid. Go do your biological needs before the raid.

If you absolutely MUST answer nature’s call, take in mind there’s several moments to do this – the moment a boss is killed, for example, you know it will take us at least 2-3 minutes to distribute the loot, so use that time wisely. AFKing for more than 5 minutes without prior warning will be strictly penalized.

6. No talk on Ventrilo during complex trash pulls and bosses. We want you to FOCUS FAAAAK and this is impossible to do if vent is a cacophony of opinions, shouts and "suggestions" given mid-fight. The only people that should be talking on vent during pulls and boss fights are the officers and Raid Leaders, everyone else's job is to CONCENTRATE AND LISTEN.

Nobody is to tell anybody else how to play their class – it is the Officers and raid leaders job to note and adjust raid performance. Telling someone else how to heal, how to tank or how to DPS is not tolerated, it just adds to drama, emotional stress and loss of focus during the raid. Simply DO NOT DO IT, save your comments and suggestions for officers until AFTER the raid, and they will take care of it for you.

7. If you signed up, were present during invites, but did not make it into the final raid you will be counted as a substitute in case anyone in the raid needs to leave early. While remaining online and available to the raid as a sub, you will earn DKP at the same rate as those currently raiding, including any Bonus DKP issued (for more details, please read the DKP and Loot Distribution system). If instead you log out after invites finished you will still earn attendance but no DKP. Officers will monitor closely whether you are online or not if you are substituting, and award DKP only for the time you are available for replacements.

8. Do not stack DKP unnecessarily. IF an item drops that is an upgrade for you and nobody else, you will spend DKP on it. An upgrade is an upgrade, so just because another boss has an item that is somewhat better than the one that just dropped does not mean you’ll let the dropped item go to waste into a disenchant. If you do this consistently, other players who have been spending DKP on every upgrade, will get the "top drop" before you do, regardless of how much more DKP you have than them. This decision will be made by the GM/RL.

9. Members should generally not PUG or raid with other guilds to raid instances that Reborn intend on raiding that week. Even if raid attendance is slacking, even if it looks like we may not make it, you should, as a Reborn Member, save your Raid ID for the guild. Exceptions can be made (like if it’s Tuesday or Monday evening and no raids are planned until Wednesday), but such exceptions need to be cleared with the GM’s.

(B) Additional Rules and benefits for Raiding Members
Attaining the Raid Member rank is not an easy task, as different expectations are held for Raid Members than the expectations held for normal guild members who casually raid. Be aware that even after obtaining the Raid Member title, you will have to keep your performance up to a high standard to keep that title and the privileges it brings.

Raid Member Benefits:

1. Raid Members are given priority to be invited to all raids over normal members, yes, inclosing farm instances. If an instance or boss is on farm, generally speaking the Raid Member has invested an untold amount of gold and time on wipes to get that boss on farm, and as such, deserves choice over any other non-raid member to farm that boss for the drop he or she needs.

2. Raid Members with high raiding costs such as tanks will have access to guild gold for bank repairs, while hybrid classes who excel in different roles will have their respecs paid for by the Guild Bank depending on the needs of the raid's setup. Raid member can expect full support in terms of items from the Guild Bank.

Raid Member Expectations/Rules:
1. High Attendance.
We raid 4 days a week, and expect you to attend a minimum of 3 of those four days. No-shows after signing up are also discouraged, if your attendance falls below the required weekly 75%, or if you no-show frequently, a demotion point will be issued.*

2. High Performance.
Attendance alone is not sufficient - it doesn’t help the raid if you only sign up and show up, then proceed to play poorly or DPS less than the main tank (or inversely consistently over DPS and pull agro). To retain your raid Member status, you need to excel at your class and be open to suggestions from others to improve your performance. Raid Members who consistently underperform will at first be spoken to by an officer to give them a heads up on what is expected of them, and how to improve. If underperformance still continues, a demotion point will be issued.*

3. High Preparation.
Come with your A-game in mind, come to the raid as if it were you last - bring pots/flasks/oils, be properly specced BEFORE the raid. Don’t AFK. Don’t hold up the raid waiting for summons - its raid time! A typical Raid Member will be the one doing the summons, not the one asking for summons. Initiative and enthusiasm, even for a Wipe Night, is the key word. If you are caught farming primals/messing around doing something else 5 minutes before the raid starts, and then show up last minute unprepared asking for wellfeds, a demotion point will be issued.*

4. High Game Activity.
It helps the raid nothing if you excel in all aspects of raiding but you take off 2 months off for vacation when we need you the most. Leaving for up to 3-4 weeks is acceptable (and understandable especially in summer), but if you are inactive for a month or more, your Raid Membership will be revoked and a replacement found for you.

When you return after a long period of time away from the guild, if a Raid Member slot is still available for your class and spec, you may apply for that slot and become a regular raider again, but if you have been replaced and no slots are available, you will have low priority on invites like all other Guild Members.

5. High dedication to improving yourself.
There used to be a time when in WOW the only way to gear up was Raids, but with the advent of Badge Rewards and PvP Gear, easily obtained by anyone with a little bit of patience and perseverance, anyone can improve their performance/gear outside of raids. Also, have all your items properly gemmed/enchanted. This goes without saying: anyone raiding will be closely checked by Raid Leaders and Raid Officers.

In other words - don’t think that raiding is all you have to do in this game to improve your character. You have options, use them. If you don’t have cash for the proper enchants and gems, as a Raid Member the guild will try to supply you with them, but think of it as a bonus for being a Raid Member, generally speaking you can’t expect others to grind the mats/gold for each and every one of your gear enhancements.

6. High Dedication to Progression
As a Raid Member you should make yourself avaible for the most hard fights avaible in the game, If wiping on an hard encounter does not appeal you then perhaps Raid Membership is not for you. You will be expected to keep your Raid ID for the main progression runs rather than partecipate in alt runs should you not make it for the first night. This applies expecially to 10 Man raiding content where the choice is avaible.

(C) *The Reborn Raid Promotion/Demotion system
Officers use the Raid Promotion/Demotion system to measure all members’ performance within the raid. Each member has a profile wherein an officer or raid officer can add or deduct points according to performance. Points are deducted at the rate of one point per offense, and no more than 1 point will be deducted per raid/day.

If any member reaches a balance of -3 points, an officer will speak to that member to issue a first and only warning. If a Raid Member/Raid Officer reaches a balance of -5 points, a demotion to Guild Member is instantly issued and a replacement found for their spot in the raiding core. If a Guild Member reaches a balance of -5 points or more, no severe penalty is incurred, but the -5 balance will act as a warning to officers, who will likely only invite that person to a raid if all other options have been exhausted.

At the discretion of officers and Raid Leaders, positive points may be added to a member’s profile, and negative points will be reset if a member has performed well for a longer period of time to avoid carrying a negative balance over a long period of time.
Examples of behavior worthy of demote points include, but are not limited to the following:

- AFKing without warning on vent or Raid chat.
- Coming unprepared to a raid.
- Consistently wiping the raid due to careless mistakes.
- No-showing to a signed up raid.

(D) The DKP and Loot Distribution System
Earning DKP
1. DKP is earned at the rate of 1 DKP an hour. This includes waiting time, if in the worst of cases 15 people are left waiting in the raid for others to show up, you will still earn DKP. Should a raid get canceled or called early due to not having enough people avaible, everyone in the raid or avaible for an invite at the time will earn DKP as if the raid happened normally untill his natural end and as they were in it. This includes any DKP bonus for that night.

2. Once earned DKP in Reborn is never taken away. You available DKP though fluctuates depending on your attendance. Attendance is given at the same time as the hourly DKP and is calculated over the last 16 raids, equivalent to 30 days worth of average raiding. If you have raided half of the guild's 25 man raids in the last month you will only have 50% of your DKP available. If your attendance is above 75% your DKP will not get taxed.

3. An additional 1 DKP points will be awarded for "Iron Man" attendance, meaning you have to have been in the raid the moment invites first started (in other words, be punctual) until the very end, traditionally 4 hours later, when the raid is called.

4. Bonus DKP may be awarded by the Raid Leaders for outstanding performance in exceptional situations; the amount is at the discretion of the Raid Leader but generally never exceed 2 DKP to avoid DKP inflation.

5. People who have signed up and not gotten an invite to a raid will earn DKP at the same rate as those who are currently raiding, AS LONG AS THEY ARE ONLINE AND AVAILABLE TO SUBSTITUTE IMMEDIATELY. This includes the “Iron Man” Bonus.

Spending DKP and Loot distribution system
1. When an item drops, whether it’s from trash or bosses, there will be NO talk on /raid chat. The RL will call an item, and only people needing MAINSPEC on that item will say "Need" in /raid chat. Joking and pissing around while loot is being distributed (ex: a rogue saying "need" on a cloth healer glove) will be noted by the RL and upon repeated offenses a demotion point may be issued.

2. After the RL has noted all the members needing an item, the item will be given to the player with most current DKP. Tryouts have the same priority as Guild Members, as long as they have the DKP to spend for the item.

3. If nobody needs an item for MAINSPEC, the drop will go at a reduced price for OFFSPEC, should alts be in the raid their priority on loot for their main specc is below Main charachters, but above offspeccs.

4. DKP Prices:

Tier Tokens: 15 DKP
Epics: 10 DKP
Off spec: 1 DKP
PvP: 1 DKP
Alts: 1 DKP
BoE Epics: 10 DKP

5. Legendaries
An exception is made to the distribution form the normal DKP system. Legendaries are handed out to the member with the highest attendance, as it stands to reason that the player who has attended and helped the raid out the most, should get property on the legendary as a "reward" for his/her effort. In cases where Attendance is the same on 2 members wanting the same legendaries, DKP will be looked at and the Legendary will be distributed accordingly. The final decision is in the hands of the Officer core in any case.
5. Pointers for Trial Members

Generally speaking Reborn has an established social base, so invites to the guild are given only to friends of the guild (with a guild social rank) and to trials who want to form part of our raiding core. As such, Trials should be aware that their addition to the guild will follow a process, and the things we consider for tryout promotions are detailed here so you know how to increase your chances of being promoted to a Guild Member:

1. Friendship/Social
Are you "chatty"? Do you get along with other Members and Tryouts? Do you know how to have a laugh and don’t take the insanity in /gchat too seriously? OR are you the silent, quiet type that logs in, said nothing for 4 hours then logs back out?

2. Guild Activity
Do you help your fellow guildies outside of raid times? Do you come do Heroics/Quests/Dungeons with us? Do you help grind items/pots/mats that help the raid progress?

3. Raid Etiquette
If you are trying out to be a Reborn raider, you need to be aware of your attendance, performance and activity, just as a Raid Member is. This goes almost without saying: If you want to raid with Reborn, be a good raider.

4. Bettering Yourself
Do you work outside of Raid Times and go nuts on weekends to grind BGS to get that extra bit of loot that will help you perform better? Do you grind Heroics for that Badge loots? Or do you just depend on Raid loot drops to improve your performance?

5. Don’t be a Noob
Don’t act like an asshat when you PuG with strangers outside of the guild. Don’t cheat on your trade deals, do NOT AFK Honor leech in BGs. Reborn has a reputation and anyone acting in an untoward manner to anyone else inside OR outside the guild will be dealt with swiftly.

Also, here are some typical whispers what will count negatively toward your trial membership in Reborn:

"When will I becm a Mmber, I rilly need drop XXX from Raeg Wintarchllll!1!."
Don’t ask when you’ll be made Member. All the info you need to know is here.

"Why don’t I get any invites?!?! OMG its nto fair, i always sign up!."
As a trial you have less priority over Raid Members, but don’t worry, you will get invited into plenty of Raids for us to assess whether you are a good addition to our raiding team or not. Whining will not help your cause.

"When’s the next raid? How much DKP do I have? What do I have to do when we kill boss XXX?"
This means "I do not read the guild rules, the guild info, the guild website nor know how to use google/wowwiki/youtube to be informed on boss encounters, because I like to be spoon-fed all aforementioned information." And that’s a bad thing to admit to.

6. The Process
The Key word for all applicants is be nice, have common sense, show initiative and your tryout will be successful. In general, you will try out for two weeks, after which the officers and GMs will review your performance, and vote yes/no. In case of a NO, you are given an extension on your tryout for another two weeks, and an officer will contact you on how to improve yourself to ensure that after those two weeks your tryout has been successful.

Unsuccessful tryouts after their extended two weeks are removed from the guild, sorry. Exceptions on immediate kicks are made for the exceptionally rude and retarded, at the discretion of the GMs.

Successful applicants who get promoted directly to raid members – congratulations, welcome to the Reborn Raiding Core! :)

6. Final Comments
There may be more than a few of you that are freaking out a little after reading all those rules.

Too strict! OMG that’s asking too much! I don’t know if I can do that!

Don’t worry and take a deep breath. You will notice most of these rules are applicable only to those wishing to participate in what we call semi-hardcore raiding. If you don’t think you can commit to 3 nights a week, or if you rather chat in gchat, do arenas, level your alts or muck about, that’s fine! :) There is a place and space for everyone in the guild, and we understand that different people have different priorities as to their activities in the game, but similarly as we are a Raiding guild, we also want to ensure we have a solid core so we can lead progress not only in WotLK but in future expansions as well, so its only common courtesy that if you only wish to raid every other week, you let us know so we can find people willing to give us the “hardcore dedication”, if you will, that is needed to progress through the harder content of the game.

I find it rather fitting that our guild is called REBORN. We have been around since the beginning of tBC, survived the kind of Guild Crises of Christmas and Summer that destroy most guilds, we have even survived a merger with Kroneri and its subsequent collapse, and come out stronger by finding like minded people with a burning passion for playing this game that steals so many hours of our lives in exchange for memories that will last us through the ages. Every time we suffer something that would normally kill a guild, we come back stronger than before, and in an these changing times of WoW where casual, small guilds are on the up and large guilds with a tight, close core are on the down, we are a very rare breed, particularly on a small server like Spinebreaker where guilds swap epic-hungry members on a daily basis.

So don’t freak out at the raiding rules, they are just a solid, bomb-proof foundation that will not only ensure we survive as a raiding/leveling/social/PvP guild, they will also let those wishing to join us know we are in it for the long haul, and we value having fun as a group more than getting a few epic drops every week.
